I was born in Orange County, California, to a small home in Dana Point. Within a few years, my parents moved to a bigger house, which my dad still owns to this day. I went to a private school with the kids of some of my mom's friend's parents, before transferring to another private school called Anneliese.
At Anneliese, I discovered my passion for ballet, and made some incredible friends along the way! It was a pretty expensive school, but my mom worked there, which allowed me to be able to afford it. I was able to go on so many amazing field trips, and was granted some incredible opportunities! Unfortunately, I had to move away at the start of 5th grade.
Starting from 5th, I started taking the violin more seriously, and moving into middle school, I gained a solid group of people that I adored with all my heart, bonding over our shared practice of orchestra. I also began to pick up some more interest in theatre (though I was still very saddened by having to leave ballet), which leads into now!
High School has been alright! I still have two years to go, but I have fallen in love with the theatre program, and met some great people through that! I'm still sort of finding my footing, but I am very thankful for the opportunities I have had since I moved to Santa Barbara.
Well, as already stated, I am Celina Misaki Stodder, current resident of Santa Barbara, California, and MAD student at SBHS. I am designing this website to act as a personal resource for the upcoming AP World History Exam, and anyone else who might be interested in using it! (Though I can't promise that it will be perfectly accurate). I consider myself to be diligent and a hard-worker, and I really want to do well on it, part of the reason I am using this assignment to merge the two topics together. While it might be a bit of a wild card in terms of fitting into the assignment topic, I hope that I can make a good website and get a good score on the AP World History Exam!
Over the course of my life, I have had three big passions that rose above the rest: ballet, the violin, and theatre. Ballet was what I grew up with. It was my first true hobby, and something I still hold very dear to my heart. I went to a theater called Laguna Dance Theater, which was massively professional and filled with amazing and talented people. We did two big shows a year, one of which being the nutcracker and the other slot which was alternating. Some of the productions I participated in included Alice in Wonderland and Swan Lake! (Which was also my final show). I started around two years old, and kept going until 10, when I unfortunately had to quit due to the expenses of going on point, though now I hope I can eventually pick up dance again. While I was devastated about having to quit, that didn't stop me from putting just as much passion into my next hobby.
While I played the violin for nearly 5 years, it wasn't the instrument itself that made me fall in love with it. Instead, the people around me and friends I made through orchestra is what really caused me to stick. I was lucky enough to go to a school that had an incredible music program, and I was even able to find some opportunities outside of my school that allowed me to continue to play the violin. I was far from the best, but I was definitely getting pretty good by the end, and I was so sad to see everything come to an end due to covid. However, nothing will ever be able to replace the memories I have made through orchestra, and I will forever treasure them.
And now, we reach theatre! While ballet and orchestra had been my primaral focuses previously, I actually have had a lot of experience in theatre too. I also tend to see theatre as a blending of my two backgrounds, as it takes both dance and music into one while adding acting to the mix. I absolutely adore all of the people I have met through it, and I can't wait to continue being an active part of theatre in my upcoming years!
